June 30th, 1931 (a verse for activation of Dagmar’s forces of self-healing)
Tell Dagmar she should do a treatment each day in the morning and the evening, in the following manner:
Picture exactly the place where you feel the pain as if you were approaching it from within, not from without. Then flood it so strongly with light until it dissolves into light before your eyes and thus is nearly de-materialized. Then say and ponder on, as palpably as possible, these words:
Thou God Who resteth within me,
To you I call!
Strength of your strength,
Light of your light --
let healing power be my own!
Through this might I permeate with light the sickness’s opaque matter and place it under the transforming rays of the primal force of God working through me!
May all that is dark become substance of light, permeated by the Godhead’s purifying breath, and fulfill from now on unceasingly the holy law of harmony that for material substance means “health”.
July 1st, 1931, in the afternoon
I have been here the whole time and have now corrected Dagmar’s verse with you. She is to say it in complete concentration and think it through palpably in the morning and the evening.
I, Sigwart, am here.
I already said yesterday that disease and all manner of physical pain bound up with it are based on a disruption of one’s permeation by the life ether. These disruptions can be called forth by:
1. outer circumstances impinging on the body;
2. wrong treatment or care of the body’s substance; or
3. flaws, let us say “weaving flaws” that have crept in as the substance was being formed.
The most difficult to combat, of course, are disruptions of the last kind. Since substance is in a constant state of being built up and expended, the spiritual force must take hold, in order through the substance’s being permeated spiritually with light to create a different tissue configuration. Tension and cramping occur just as well through unharmonious (let’s say irregular) permeation of substance by the life-ether.
I wanted and had to say this to her, because I see how she is harming herself. Of late I have observed how wrongly she works with her body.
Dagmar, why the haste? You know full well that you will be given the time to fulfill your mission, which is so important for the spiritual world! You are so connected with this task that you will and must accomplish it. You really ought to be able to feel that the haste, which so wrongly takes possession of you, in no way promotes you; rather, it “possesses” you, while regularity and harmony should accompany you instead. These are what promote your work, whereas haste is harmful to you. You need to take these words of mine to heart and not accept this restless, hasteful pushing when it takes hold of you. You need much rather vigorously to do battle with it as something that opposes both you and your work with us.
I have felt my way into you and have seen that these powers that boil up in such fits do not come from within you, but rather from currents that lie outside of you, agitating you in order to gain tensile substance for itself. They suck you dry, and you deplete yourself whenever you give yourself over to them. You must not allow this to happen! Always remain just who you are and reject with all your energy the eternal force that positions itself like a whip behind you and wants to plunder you in both body and soul.
Your waves are your very own, yours alone, and if they move within the regularity of your harmonious rhythm, they will stay yours, too. But the moment you become whipped up by external forces and enter into this restless, hounded running, you lose control of what is “yours” and serve the selfish purposes of your ruler. These hasteful oscillations first permeate the levels of your soul, and then reproduce right down into your physical substance, which enters into a disharmonious in and outbreathing of the etheric stream, and then you become sick! This is why I said at the beginning that you are treating your body wrong.
Please let these words take deep root, so that from now on you no longer succumb to influences of this kind, but defeat them instead, whenever they seek to make you submit to their ruinous might.
Note well that it is always powers outside of you that rule over you whenever you are driven by haste, disquiet, restlessness; whereas you yourself have regularity, harmony, and the euphonious rhythm of silence, which must be the fundamental tone of all truly spiritual creating. And these are the companions you need, if you are to supply yourself with the strength and powers you need.
I wanted to tell you this as a friend and protector. I, Sigwart, bless you and your work and am in constant connection with you through the inseparable threads uniting us so closely and strongly.
October 19th, 1931
I am here; I, Sigwart. Listen, then: the times when you poor souls live on earth are certainly not easy to bear, and yet they are extraordinarily fruitful times of harvest. So much has changed and still is changing, and people are fleeing from the calamity they seek to avoid. It is a chasing, a storming forward, and in order to make better headway, they throw off one dense layer after the other and in this way become freer.
They do not notice that the sheaths they throw off make them freer; they remain living in the delusion that they have to hold on to them, until their flight demands their complete strength and they release their cramped grasp and without even wanting to, just drop what they sought to hold so tightly. The moment it falls away, it becomes a foreign object to them. They don’t waste a single thought on what has been lost, and the race just goes forward, in order to get away from something that seems to be gaining on them, but what in truth they are dragging along by an invisible rope connected tightly to themselves and creating the illusion that they are being pursued.
If they were to stop running and turn around, how differently the picture would show itself to them! Where is the pursuer, where is the hand that seemed as if it was about to seize them? What happened to the sound of running feet behind them? All is still, as far as the eye can see; nothing, no one. In amazement they would look around and down themselves, and no doubt ultimately discover the rope they had girded about themselves and which, through their very dragging it, had become the dreaded persecutor hounding them.
Stop running away!
Nothing is so great or terrible or threatening that it would entitle you to take single step with your face turned away from it.
Stand still – don’t flinch – stretch yourself to your full height – direct all your thinking into yourself and observe silent devotion in front of the altar of the invisible church standing within you in magnificent quiet and consecration. Step up, open the holy shrine where the “God in you” has His radiant and secret realm, and let it become bright and free inside you!
When you turn outward again, much will appear altered to you. You will behold life, destiny, the world with the eyes of the fortunate person who has sucked so much light into himself that clarity and knowledge have become his. This is how you will master life, and it will kneel down before you, who have become its ruler through the flaming up of divine light raying out of the holy shrine and onto the altar of the invisible church.
Your Sigwart
February 8th, 1932
(Dagmar has played Sigwart’s Piano Sonata for a larger audience.)
Dagmar, I would like to say that I thank you, as only we can give thanks. A blessing-filled stream of light rays out from us onto those who deserve our gratitude, and the more deeply it is felt, the brighter and more radiant are the gifts we send. Thus today I have enveloped you in rays of brightest light springing forth from gratitude. And not only the spirits you were able to see physically– no, a whole host of them was sent by us to attend this celebration. Have you ever made clear to yourself that you need to be active in a twofold manner? These two modes of activity have to blend into each other. Only in this way will the ultimate fulfillment of your task come about!
What you do and are called on to do first is, through the sense-perceptible wave of resonance, to give the divine flowing out of you to human beings via tones, to communicate to them a portion, a spark of the great God resting in you, and thereby to awaken the God aslumber within them. The more perfectly you are able to mirror Him – or to materialize Him – in your sound, the more brightly His light will be reflected in souls, awakening streams of light out of which the God inside the souls of your listeners is built up over time.
And now the second thing. Every composition has a different color, a different level of resonance, and carries within itself a different seed of the divine power of calling and awakening.
It is up to the artist how much of this awakening power of a musical creation he can reveal. Every work of music is an organism that can be compared with a human counterpart. It all lies at the ready – every organ, every limb, every function!
A lifeless body lies in front of you before you begin. You play, and life begins to pulsate: the heart beats, the lungs breathe, the limbs move – the work of music arises. It opens its eyes and it opens its lips and utters in its oscillating sounds the entire experience, its full yearning for God and the whole homesickness of its soul. Thus the living, the breathing, the God-imbued structure of the work of art awakens!
And if it is created to the point of perfection, it glides through the rows of the listeners, lays its hands on the hearkening souls, and releases a veil!
My sister, you can bring things into existence in this way! The forms of the works arise out of your hands as living beings; radiant in beauty and power, they stride and accomplish their mission. Thus today you incarnated me myself out of my tones; me, as I was when I created them! Out of your creative hands I myself ascended, and it was given me to sink understanding and along with it the comprehension of my life – which itself was an incarnation of the great mission of art – into many souls.
You understand, through the perfection of your art you gave me the possibility to materialize within these tones, which I once created myself! I have often said to you: “I am in the sound!” But the fact that I actually was able to incarnate into it I owe to the magnitude of your art.
Do all of you now understand that the reproducing artist can be just as much an artist as the one who forms original works out of the worlds of sound? Both are creators, and the only difference is that the composer harvests closed buds out of the waves of resonance and binds a bouquet of them, but that it takes the interpreting artist to bring these buds to fully developed, glorious, fragrant, colorful blossoms.
I, Sigwart, lay my hands on you all in blessing and full of deepest gratitude.
